1. The effect of moisture of Suckling pig feed pellet on mechanical wear and production efficiency

The lower the pellet water content, the more serious the mechanical wear and the lower the production efficiency. If Pellet moisture is in 11%~13%, production efficiency is fast, and mechanical wear is light.

2. Methods to improve the water content of pellet during feed processing

2.1 Water control in raw material grinding process

After contrasting from the different production results with different holes of screens, it is found that the water loss of the raw material increases obviously with the decrease of the grinding particle size of the raw material. With the increase of water content of the raw material, the crushing efficiency will decrease and the energy consumption will also increase.

2.2 Water control during feed mixing

The water loss in the feed mixing process is negligible. When the moisture content of the mixed powder is low, atomized water can be sprayed when the material is mixed. However, there are many problems in adding water in the mixer must be highly concerned: (1) the water added to the mixer can not be directly used tap water, needs to go through special treatment or add anti-mildew agent. (2) Suitable numbers and sizes of sprinkler head should be allocated. Adjust the nozzle position and speed, to ensure that the water is uniform. (3) Clean the mixing machine and the pre-pelleting bin after the end of production every day to avoid the residue of materials on the inner wall of the mixing machine and the pelleting bin.

2.3 Water control during conditioning

Steam tempering is a key technology in pellet feed processing. The effect of tempering directly affects the quality of pellet and the water content of finished product. Steam quality and conditioning time are two important factors affecting the conditioning effect. In the production process, the steam trap can be adjusted or closed, using low pressure steam, to increase the time of the material in the conditioner, so that the material and the steam fully mixed, can make the material fully absorb the water in the steam, so as to increase the moisture of the product.

2.4 Selection of appropriate pelletizing ring die

The hole diameter and compression ratio of the ring die of pelletizer are the main factors affecting the productivity of pelletizer and one of the factors affecting the water content of feed pellet. For the ring die with small hole diameter, due to its small pellet diameter, the air of the cooler is easy to penetrate the feed particles. Therefore, more water is taken away when cooling, and the water content of feed products will be low. On the contrary, the die with big hole diameter, the feed pellet diameter is larger, and the cold wind is not easy to penetrate the feed, so the water taken away during cooling is less, and the water content of feed products will increase. For ring die with large compression, in the pellet process, the friction resistance is large, the material is not easy to pass through the die hole. When squeezing and pressing pellet, the friction temperature is high, the water loss is large, so the feed pellet moisture will be reduced. Generally suckling pig feed uses ring die with small die hole, so choosing ring die with low compression ratio is beneficial to improve the feed quality and water content.
